Types of retaining walls available
Wallmaster would like to advise all customers that we only use Stainless Steel fasteners and keys (it is our experience that Galvanised fasteners rust when used in treated timber)
Post spaces are no greater then 1500mm from centre of post to centre of the next post. Post spaces reduce as the wall height increases.
Wallmaster is the only retaining system to receive an Engineering Excellence Award from the Institution of Engineers Australia (Known to us) and customers are encouraged to compare not only the beautiful visual appearance of Wallmaster products but also to compare the quality (structural kiln dried dressed all round timber with rounded edges) and structural integrity of all Wallmaster system designs. Remember Wallmaster will not take short cuts with your project.
Cantilever Retaining Walls:
Cantilever Retaining Walls are single layer walls that require holes to be dug and the posts that are attached to the walls concreted into the ground. This type of wall is available up to 615mm in height inclusive of capping. These walls are suitable where a single layer wall is preferred. Wallmaster will not go over this height with cantilever walls as this type of wall above this height is susceptible to movement within the timber support post even if the concreted hole providing the cantilever does not move. For walls greater then this height that are required to be a single layer please see Tie Back Walls.

Tie Back Walls:
Tie Back Walls are the same in visual appearance as Cantilever walls. Tie back walls also have a post concreted into the ground like cantilever walls. Tie back walls work in a different way to cantilever walls for retaining earth. Tie back walls utilise a tie rod going through each post back to an earth anchor. The tie rod spreads the load on a support post and provides a much stronger wall system for increased heights up to 2meters high. This allows the post to utilise a load spreading principal and ensure the top of the wall can not lean forward through timber bowing. In addition tie back walls can be adjusted for the life of the wall system.

Terraced Retaining Walls
Terraced Retaining walls are one of Wallmaster’s biggest selling products. This system of retaining is capable of infinite height and is limited only by the width required to retain the final height of the wall system. Terraced retaining systems require no holes to be dug or a very minor hole on the front wall only. This system works as a result of an internal tie structure that braces the walls and locks them into position. One of the best visual benefits of this wall system is it allows large heights to be retained without having a tall single layer wall confronting you. If the front wall is either two or three boards high it also enables added functionality in the landscape to provide a seat.

Box systems
Wallmaster Box Systems are great for raised garden beds, garden seating, vegetable gardens or any garden design were soil is to be raised for any reason. Wallmaster box systems require no holes and work as a result of and internal tie structure that braises opposing sides into position. The box systems are limitless in their length and can be made virtually any shape imaginable.
